Review Final Design
This was the original design for my film review. There were still some problems with the layout of the review and also with the language used. These points have been highlighted and will be altered for the final design.
Review Ideas
My Magazine Film Review
For my Film review I intend to include many of the aspects featured within all of the reviews I have analysed. It will primarily be based on the second review which I analysed, “Black Swan”, however it contain aspects, such as interviews, from my first analysed review “Pirates of the Caribbean”.
The length of the film review will be a double page spread. It will contain images taken from the film and also an interview with the director. It will include a brief description of the film and information about the film. This includes the length of the film, certificate, director, and actors’ names. It will also reference the fact that it is the Director’s first film. It will also consist of a feature about the symbolism and music used within the film. Finally, the review will finish with the writer’s accolades of the film.
In summary, my film will include;

· Interview with director
· Mention the symbolism included within the film

Poster Final Design
Due to both problems of the uploading of my short film, it meant that I was unable to use still shots/frames from my short film for the poster. I therefore had to use an image which I had available, but would still be effective for a poster.
Therefore used one of the images from the wilting flower. It had originally been one of my designs for the poster and as a design would relate back well to my short film and its use of symbolism.
I created the poster using the program
Serif PhotoPlus 11.
This enabled me to improve the colour of the poster, and to also incorporate and add all of the other elements of film posters to be added.
Here are the two versions of the wilting flower design.
I also got some audience feedback on which one they thought was more effective.
I decided to agree with the majority of audience feedback, and go with Poster design idea 1. This was because even though they were not evident within some of the short film posters which I analysed, I though that through the use of the film reviews/star rating, it had a more professional feel and would be more beneficial for the success in advertisement for my film (as I found in my original audience research). I additionally thought that aesthetically, this one was more appealing so would therefore be better at advertising my short film to its audience.
Audience Poster Feedback
This is a copy of the questionnaire which I gave to a select audience. In it, it also show the results and feedback which the audience suggested.
These results show that there was a split on opinion of which poster would be most effective to advertise my short film. Both ideas 1 and 4 received 7 votes. One reason why design idea 4 was liked, was because of the fact that it would portray the artistic nature of short films and in particular the plot of the short film I intend to make. However, there was an interesting point which was made on design idea 1, saying that there needs to be ore happening in the poster. The character does not look effective and thus appealing enough, so it might not be effective in attracting an audience to watch the film.
When deciding my final poster design I will take into consideration all of these point mentioned by the audience. This will be important at that they are the TMG (target market grou0 so therefore their opinions are very important as they will be the ones watching my short film.
